Carradales is a traditionally built Victorian detached house, originally built as a Church of Scotland Manse in 1880. Completely refurbished, Carradales offers luxury guest house accommodation Guests can also enjoy the roaring fire from the Victorian Fireplace in the beautiful lounge and log burner in the dining room. A full Scottish, lighter option or vegetarian breakfast, Lunch and evening meal can be enjoyed from the warmth of the wood burner in the dining room. Meals are created by our professional Chef, Steve and are made from locally sourced ingredients. The Glen Bar & Restaurant is nearby. Carradales is fully licensed. There is also a boot room and secure storage for bicycles where necessary. LOCATION We are situated in the quaint and picturesque village of Carradale on the east side of Kintyre, approximately 14 miles from Campbeltown. Carradale is a quaint fishing village and has its own harbour and local amenities such as post office, village shop and bar. The village is on the B842 coast road down the east of the Kintyre Peninsula and boasts views over to Arran. A bus service operates between Carradale and Campbeltown 5 times a day. ROOMS There are 4 ensuite bedrooms named after castles in the immediate area. These are Tarbert, Dunaverty, Skippness,,and Saddell. • All rooms including one on the ground floor (Tarbert) are individually designed with ceiling chandeliers, luxury feature wallpaper and with new links comfy double or super king beds with Victorian inspired luxurious ensuite bathrooms complete with underfloor heating. Tarbert and Skipness have Wilmslow double ended baths and separate walk in showers whilst Dunaverty and Saddell have walk in showers.All have heated towel rails, heated mirrors with light and shaving sockets. • Guests can also enjoy: • Complementary luxurious toiletries produced locally. • A selection of fine teas, hot chocolate and fresh filtered water with locally made shortbread in the comfort of their room. • 300 thread count Egyptian Cotton bed linen • Fluffy robes and slippers • Forest or open countryside views • Bedside USB sockets and complimentary super fast Wi-Fi • Flat screen TVs • Hairdryer • Washing and ironing available THINGS TO DO Kintyre Way - Established in 2006 and runs for 161km along the length of the Kintyre Peninsular starting at the village of Tarbert and passes through a variety of landscapes, fishing villages, conifer forests, beaches and stretches of fine coastline and open hills and moors. Bicycle Hire – From the nearby Network Centre. Carradale Golf Course – A wee gem of a course offering amazing 360 degree views! Stunning views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Arran, Alisa Craig and Ayshire. Machrihanish Dunes Golf Course – “The World’s Most Natural Course” 18-hole links course. Davaar IslandCave Painting of The Crucifixion. Ardshiel Hotel Whisky Bar – Offers the Whisky enthusiast over 700 malts to choose from, many of which are rare and exclusive. Saddell Castle – Historic 16th-century castle on the shore of the Kilbrannan Sound of significant importance. Owned by The Landmark Trust. Also appeared in Paul McCartney’s “Mull of Kintyre” music video. Saddell Abbey- ruins of a Cistercian Abbey founded in 1160. There are fine examples of carved medieval grave slabs displayed under cover in the grounds. Skipness Castle- Built in the early 13th century and stands near village of Skipness together with the nearby Kilbrannan Chapel. It is a scheduled ancient monument. The Green Lady of Skipness Castle is said to haunt the location. The Seafood Cabin, Skipness – For those who are prepared to venture off the beaten track just near the castle, the cabin offers tranquillity combined with fresh, well-prepared seafood from the local shores. Closed Saturdays. Malt Whisky Festival 21st to 24th May Muneroy Tea Room – Award winning family run tea room famed for its home made cakes. St Columba's Footprints & Keil Caves - series of unusual visitor attractions closely grouped together. Near St Columba's Chapel is a rocky outcrop on which you find St Columba's Footprints, while nearby is St Columba's Well. Two hundred yards to the west are the Keil Caves. Stooped in history! Springbank Distillery – Family owned single malt whisky distillery in Campbeltown, the once proclaimed Whisky capital of the world founded in 1828. It is the only distillery in Scotland to carry out 100% of the production process on one site. Tours can also be booked. Glen Scotia Distillery - Glen Scotia distillery or sometimes affectionately known as The Scotia or Old Scotia is a distillery that is a producer of single malt Scotch whisky. The distillery was founded in 1832 in Campbeltown. Campbeltown Picture House - Campbeltown Picture House, designed by Albert V Gardner of Glasgow in 1913 in Glasgow School Art Nouveau style, is a Category A Listed building and one of the earliest surviving purpose-built cinemas in the UK. It is the only example in Scotland of the first wave of cinema building still in use as a cinema. Campbeltown Heritage Centre - The Campbeltown Heritage Centre is a museum and heritage centre in Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland. The centre is the main repository for social history for the Kintyre Peninsula from around 1700 to the present day, and is run by the Kintyre Amenity Trust. Tarbert Castle -Tarbert Castle is located on the southern shore of East Loch Tarbert, at Tarber at the north end of Kintyre. It was a strategic royal stronghold during the Middle Ages and one of three castles at Tarbert. Glenbarr Abbey - Glenbarr Abbey, an 18th century residence, built by Col. Matthew Macalister, 1st Laird of Glenbarr. Today it serves as a visitor centre for the history of Clan MacAlister. Isle of Ggha – take the ferry from Tayinloan The Boathouse Restaurant Gigha (Michelin Guide 2018) is set on the small community-owned island. Isle of Arran - take the ferry from Skipness Isle of Jura Isle of Islay - take the ferry from Kennacraig - Port Askaig Ballycastle, Co Antrim - Ballycastle is a small town in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The town is located on the north-easternmost coastal tip of the island of Ireland at the northern mainland limit of the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Take the Kintyre Express from Campbeltown. So close! Mull of Kintyre Music Festival - a friendly festival and mix of traditional and contemporary Scottish and Irish music in various venues in Campbeltown during the month of August. Harbour Day Carradale - A day of fun and frolics with a pirate theme at Carradale Harbour. There will also be a fun dog show, bar, BBQ, craft stalls, home baking and more during month of July.
